Re: Onslow's new motor.
Right,5 day report.
Extremely comfortable, rather quick without realising it especially if I use the throttle like I had to in the astra but I've learnt now it doesn't need anything around town bar a slight pressure on the pedal. Average 32 to 34 mpg around town which for its size can't be sniffed at really.
Bad bits though is its size. The c pillars are large and cause a blind spot when reversing but even though the door mirrors are small it still gives good vision. It has a long nose too which can be a bit awkward in tight spots. It also has a knock on the rear occasionally but that's either a subframe bush or rear drop link on the passenger side. Only does it on potholed roads at slow speed. Good news is I haven't used the audible rear parking sensor yet.

Re: Onslow's new motor.
I know that I'm the "Mr Mondeo" of old car internet forums after having more of them pass through my hands than I care to remember but I've never owned a Mk3. To make matters worse, I can honestly say that I've probably only ever driven maybe three of them in my life and they were all diesels.bub2006 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 16, 2023 5:47 pm Right,5 day report.

Re: Onslow's new motor.
Question for you knowledgeable lot. At light/trailing throttle the Mondeo has a slight hesitation. Pulled plugs out tonight.
Air filter isn't much better
Platinum plugs that look rather worn to me. Do you guys agree? They look more white in pictures than they actually are. Air filter isn't much better

Re: Onslow's new motor.
The plugs should have a fine needle tip which the obviously haven't and the air filter is going to be choking the car.

The gaps look all over the place with them. Watch out for fake NGKs and where you buy them from.
That air filter is fine and look dirty way before they restrict. But I'd probably chuck a new one at it as cheap enough.

Re: Onslow's new motor.
Plugs could well be the originals but I wouldn't have thought that was the case at nearly 120k. 30 fucking quid just for plugs though.
To clarify regards coil pack, no eml on but if it's anything like the focus that didn't even throw eml on when it had a blatant misfire and when the mad was unplugged it put the auto box fault light on instead.

Swap the plugs with the ones from the Focus.
