What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I did fear that. I made it clear it was accounted for and someone was coming from Oxford to take the subframe who would be very disappointed if it wasn't gone. Anyway that's chap turned up today in a Fiesta ST with his partner who took it away. I ended up doing all the lifting as he done his arm in and she struggled to lift while looking like might snap in half...

Just have the rear axle left and tyres as big stuff left to get rid of. No-one seems to want either so may weigh in the axle as it's a fair heavy chunk of steel. Maybe take the pumpkin out and keep it in the stash of bits.

What else does a Dolomite rear end fit? Spitfire is IRS. Is the Herald?

Pikey's don't listen to stuff like that, it's us and them. If you are stupid enough to leave something outside and easily got at it that's your look out, is the way they look at it. Especially if there were two of them in the cab, amazing what they can see for a more profitable re-visit.
When scrap was at 40 quid a tonne a few were still trawling round here. How do you make it pay for 2 blokes driving a twin wheel tranny at 25mpg tops doing maybe 2 trips a day, 60 mile round trip just to weigh in with maybe 2 tonnes of light iron on the back?

Sounds like your time down the gym finally paid off lol

A mercrocker doppleganger in Weston today. I genuinely don't know what this is - apart from it saying Ford on the front and Futura on the back...

1963 Falcon Futura - a sportier-flavoured version of Ford's compact line which I think debuted for that model year.

Yes, it showed Ford the way forward with the concept which began as an idea aligned more with the Corvair. Sales of the Futura confirmed Ford's decision to rework Mustang as a sportier Falcon rather than an actual sports car.

Blimey, that's a little crispy.
Are galvanised chassis available? I wonder how much needs to be undone to swap the body over
That was in 2019, I think I had a quick look and couldn't see it as an option. Money wise it wouldn't have been worth it back then either?
You can get one now, but 3 bags!

There's a Polish company called Maer that sell galvanised Disco 2 chassis for just over £2,500 (including VAT and mainland UK delivery), but that's still a fair chunk of money.

On the road:
1998 Disco 4.0 V8 (manual)
1994 Vauxhall Calibra 3.0 V6

Running but need fettling:

1986 Honda CBX750F
1991 Maserati 222 SE
1990 Yamaha XJ900F

Tax & MOT-exempt, woohoo!

1982 Suzuki GSX1100SZ Katana
