So many things to like about those, kind of like when you have a proper Italian ice cream instead of a Whippy. The square number plate is a better design balance, those neat round wing repeaters, elegant script on the bootlid, proper windows AND a decent door bin. Plus a neat face that is neither like something off a Post Office van or resembles that tin foil shit that giffers used to crimp over their grilles. Lovely.

The Innocenti Cooper 1300 was a lovely thing, so much better than the shoddy Longbridge version yet worth less than half. The Cooper continued until 1976 - so much for Stokes axing it to save on John Cooper's royalties! The Innocenti was a Cooper S is reality, 70 bhp 1275, 7.5 inch servo discs etc.

Like so often, BL missed a trick by not building RHD versions in Belgium and importing them here at a health mark up.
