Gah. This transmission has no drain plug because even in 1966, "sealed for life" was a thing
What a godawful bloody mess that is to drain

I was thinking about it. Probably cheaper to get a Pela and drain it via the dipstick tube.

Well sealed for life lasted this long. That's a hell of a lot better than the modern version.

I bet you could buy something similar straight over the counter.

No, the pan is too shallow.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Tue Nov 15, 2022 9:00 pm Enough room to use something like this?

I believe there's an aftermarket cast aluminum pan available- designed for racing where the thermal expansion rate is good to match across sealing edges.

Re: 1966 Plymouth Fury 3
Decided to make a start again on a job I bailed on in November and didn't get back to until today. Inside of the gearbox looks like it's got .. wait. Flies?
Plenty of mayo.
Cleaned and the dents knocked out.
Spent two hours looking for the seal I bought, and tidied away very well. So well I couldn't find the bastard thing. Eventually found it, by which time it was time to stop.
I also need the smaller seal that seals the kickdown shaft, so I'll have to take measurements and find an equivalent.
Ultimately I'll have to drop the valve block out. Was hoping to avoid that, but hey ho. Tomorrow.

Took the valve block down. Cleaned it out. Ordered a seal.
