If it was comparatively priced I would probably still be playing about with LPG but using that to justify running a big block daily.. or something with a Detroit diesel.
How's the gear shift behaving? Did you do a complete drain and change or just what you could get out easily?

The pan and torus both have drains so its possible to remove about 95% of the oil (pan drain isn't at the lowest point).DodgeRover wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:33 pm If it was comparatively priced I would probably still be playing about with LPG but using that to justify running a big block daily.. or something with a Detroit diesel.

It's behaving better. Needs a heavier weight oil, but this was a good proving point.

It's uh, $1.08 a liter right now. That's 91 RON though.

How did the gearbox behave with the cold weather and new oil any difference?

With the (brief) cold (is 22c today), it behaved as per design.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Sun Feb 05, 2023 2:13 pm How did the gearbox behave with the cold weather and new oil any difference?
So, increasing the oil weight should have it behave better when it's hot.

Re: 1951 Pontiac Chieftain
Well, the car has been parked up for a while. The brakes were feeling a little low too the floor so I decided to adjust them.
So, ordered a new set of shoes for the car, all round. Hopefully they fit; if FedEx is right they'll be here tomorrow.
First drum off. Rear shoe sits there and waves at me, half delaminated. Those only did about 5000 miles but admittedly that's the one that never sat right and did get to the point of smoking at one point because the adjuster shifted and the brake gently stuck on (it was dark, found out when I pulled up at a red light and the cloud of smoke drifted past). So, ordered a new set of shoes for the car, all round. Hopefully they fit; if FedEx is right they'll be here tomorrow.
