Upon further research, the Mitsubishi manual I have downloaded was for the Australian market with some other engine model.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 8:10 pm If it now occasionally stutters or hesitates under light load close the gaps a touch. With modern ignition systems it shouldn't make any difference - but it does.
The gap should be 0.8mm for a 4G63
While on my quest for knowledge, I found a page that suggested a 1% power gain was possible by "indexing" the plugs.
In reality this meant fitting copper shims under the plug so the plug gap was facing the inlet valves when tight.
https://ngksparkplugs.com/en/resources/ ... d-indexing
Sounds like Hokum to me though.

Because 1% wouldn't be noticeable and is therefore a waste of time?NorfolkNWeigh wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 6:37 pmHow the fuck have I got to nigh on 60 without ever having heard of that bollocks?FatherJack wrote: ↑Tue Jan 24, 2023 4:35 pmUpon further research, the Mitsubishi manual I have downloaded was for the Australian market with some other engine model.DodgeRover wrote: ↑Sun Jan 22, 2023 8:10 pm If it now occasionally stutters or hesitates under light load close the gaps a touch. Because you'd lose 1% buy having the plugs the wrong distance into the head and ruining the flow of the flame front?

Ok, its an American vehicle imported from Japan so there are many influences at play here.
What the hell is the thing on the front bumper supposed to be doing ?
How did it pass an MOT ?
Just for giggles, the seller runs some Eco related company and has this to run about in.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
It's for rock crawling. Mainly for when dropping off large boulders/steps that hits the ground first & stops the car standing on it's nose. It's pointed so the car will roll to one side or the other & get a wheel on the floor for traction.
Also handy for getting the front to slide up large rocks & steps to climb up them.
