I've had around 6 Grand Land Xs, all have numerous GM logos liberally scatted around the car, which amuses me as there's no GM in it.

I think the Tossland and Poundland are the last of the GM stuff.
I don’t mind the better GM cars and the Astra has been consistently good for yonks.

Never heard of them. Had to Google, so for the benefit of anyone as ignorant as me...

Tbh I'd never heard of them either and unlike you I didn't bother to Google.

There's a new Poundland out now I see. It's Peugeot based apparently. The Reverend Bluejeans wrote: ↑Sun Jan 15, 2023 7:43 am I think the Tossland and Poundland are the last of the GM stuff.

All Vauxhall stuff is PSA based. GM wrote the contract so sweet they couldn't afford to make anything on a GM platform. Thats why the Corsa looks to odd: the design was stretched to get it onto a PSA platform (look at the rear wheel relative to the rear doors). Insignias cost Stallantis $2,000 each time they built one in GM royalty payments. Thats why you never see any and why they were all dropped last year. Dealers were urged to get Insignia customers into Grandlands.

It sounds like car manufacturers have given up on competition as it's all too hard for them. Easier to be part of a cartel, take government payouts and offer up some lukewarm dross to the 'consumers'.

Nah Trabants offered value for money and practical transport compared to the cross on sale these days.

Given the right, somewhat restricted, requirements you could argue that a Citroen Ami, like Guests, fits into that category.
Skoda used to fit in there but they've gone upmarket and have replaced their smaller cars with much larger SUVs. There's no obvious replacements for ours and it's getting worse, I've no interest in driving a mobile X Box.
