That's another idea but it's finding one.
Just lost 2nd and 4th now. Gear lever feels like no resistance in them gears and 1st and third are noisy

What's it like on fuel around town? Don't want to be going much lower than high 30s mpg!

I seen that. But true mpg can somewhat differ. The Ignis is low geared so on motorway speed it can be very high rpm and drinks fuel. Around town is mid 40s so not bad at all.

At the end of the day Bub it has gears and will almost certainly be more economical than what appears to be becoming a single or zero speed Suzuki.
Just go for it unless you want to wreck your Focus.

I've just got to be a little logical. I'm not fussed too much about road tax cost, insurance can be a pain if it goes much above 180 a month and it's at 171 T the minute. Mpg wise can't see it being much below 35 to 38 anyway.

Also it's easy for folk to say get it bought but I've not got the money at the minute and cartake back can't collect Ignis till the 8th. Also still owe FIL a few quid for lending me money for the shitbox.
I'm definitely not using the focus either. Not suitable for that line of work and would be a damn shame to pile 1500 to 2000 miles a month on it.

Keep an eye on the oil level on them as they like to drink it and apart from that, the Astra G petrols are generally bullet proof. Not that hard to work on either. Much more robust than the Astra H that replaced them.
I didn't like mine as everyone hated me in it and Vauxhall seats don't agree with me one bit. I've never know a car to attract so much hate from other drivers. Also terribly dull things. Even the engine just sounded like it was an old man groaning/farting when WOT.
But as a vehicle to get from A to B they're just fine at that job.
