As somebody who spent his life in a steelworks this is proper, man-size engineering. I've seen (and been involved in) some foooking big bits of "kit", but this build really, really does Impress me.

You have to be complimented on your work, it really is impressive.

There are two of us working on this and one of them retired some time ago so works virtually full time on it. If it were just me on my own it would never get finished.

I can only imagine, and marvel, at the scale of it. I've had acquaitances with steam kit but somehow these lorries seem a much bigger undertaking what with all the running gear and bodywork. Makes me very glad that this is happening......

When I was very young I went with my old man to visit his cousins just down the road from us who had a haulage business. They lived in a small village called Old and our family name is Knight.
Back then they had Atkinsons and Commers, but wandering around in one of the sheds in the photo I came across a Sentinel steamer four wheeler flatbed.
My father used to get a lift to school in one of their Morris Commercial milk lorries in the early '30's, but had little interest in how or what the company operated.
The company was sold, and though the name remains the former owners are no longer around. I wonder what happened to their steam vehicles, and regrettably that's the closest I ever got to these magnificent vehicles. I've looked in vain for photos but can find no Sentinels.

It's funny how it is with haulage firms- in my head Norbert Dentrangles are everywhere but actually turned into XOL or something unmemorable that I can't remember.
