I never much cared for Heralds- wonky is a good description. I got a lift in the back of one to see Deep Purple at Leicester. Hideous drumming noise well and truly fucked my ears before we even got into the De Montfort Hall.
Have heard much better sounds than either coming out of just one Vox AC30...

I had a Herald for a while. It always felt a bit like driving a tent, all a bit wobbly. It wasn’t a convertible

Well, they practically were convertibles really. That bolt-on roof was actually deemed a "hardtop" by Insurers and grouped accordingly. Not much point making panels easy to repair when the underwriters fucked you over anyway......

In spite of it all I have a soft spot for Trumps and found them a lively drive but apt to become rather tiring. Nice to work on, though.

Yes, but a very flimsy one. I believe the decision to revert to this form of construction was because a lack of external capacity to produce large pressings compelled Triumph to build its monocoque Standard 8 replacement from small pieces that could be formed on the telegraph pole outside their factory.
