My slightly knackered old cars

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Don't forget the dreadful cam rattle on the OHV engine that used to make a Talbot sound refined.

Bargain for a grand that. They look archaic now even though they're a quite recent (to me) motor.

Aye that's a superb Cavvy, I love the early ones in these earthy colours, they did a terracotta shade which was also ace.

Hopefully get my run out MK3 and the MK1 together at Retroshite in the spring!

It's a Mk2 isn't it? The Mk1 was proper wheel drive.

I had a 3 door mk1 coop in silver. Lovely car till I bent the front end round a lampost when I was reversing.

I also remember a mk2 saloon in dog shit brown. The engine blew in that one. Put a rod through the block iirc. Oil over the road. I'm dubious to the road legality of it at the time as I did a runner and just left it blocking a T junction.

The Camry failed it's MOT a month or two ago and I've been taking my time to work through all it's issues.

I've done all of the welding including inner sills and arches, fitted a new cat and exhaust gaskets so that should wipe a fair bit off the list. What's left is a rear shock, some bushes and a brake line which I seriously can't be bothered doing so will be farming it out to the usual MOT place.

some more updates since a while ago.

I got the A3 tdi quattro mot'd but just seemed to encounter dreamers and timewasters when trying to sell it.

I swapped the Audi for a diesel 306 which I raffled and sold out pretty quickly.

I bought a strange looking Simson moped for £1k

Had some fun razzing it up and down the road then swapped for a Subaru Impreza estate with the 1.8 non turbo engine.

It was in dire need of some new CV joints so I raffled it off, it struggled to sell out so I gave away the remaining numbers to friends so I could go ahead with the raffle. Coincidently a friend won it, replaced the knackered cv joints with new drive shafts then sold it back to me for £500. I'm still using it at the moment!

With the success of the 306 raffle netting me £1180 I thought I'd give it another go with a diesel 205 I bought for £700.

Right enough it sold out instantly and I got back £1180 for my trouble...

That E36 I bought in July I swapped for my old Skoda Estelle which proceeded to blow its head gasket on the way home...

My LDV Pilot finally got another mot after countless hours welding it up.

I picked up a Triumph Acclaim for £700 then flipped it on for £1500.

I picked up this Visa for nothing but it cost me £100 to transport, it had sat for a couple of years and was pretty disgusting inside so after getting it running and changing all of the tyres which had been slashed I decided it really wasn't for me so moved it on for £300.

Subaru is my current daily, it heats up relatively quickly and clears the windscreen which is really all I want for a winter car.

I had some cash left over from selling the Acclaim and Visa and this popped up for sale near me.

a 1983 Vauxhall Cavalier with the 1.3 engine and 4 speed gearbox. Drives ok for the age of it so considering using it over the winter. Rear arches are a little bit scabby but at £44 a side for the repair panels I'[m not too bothered if they deteriorate over the winter.
