Finally picked up the A55 this morning from Enfield, not far from where the Motoring Pageant is held. Having been stood since 1983 I was expecting problems but fortunatley once tugged with a Winch a few times all 4 wheels were rolling abiet on fucked Crossplies. It drew plenty of attention from neighbours and passers by plus from other motorists on the A10 whilst driving out of Enfield. Need to give the car a good look over during the week and sort through all the Spares which came with it, most of it from a late model Morris Oxford the owner broke up about 40 odd years ago- the 1622 engine and the Blue Vinyl Seats from that car are fitted in this one. Sadly the History has been lost but the owner bought it from the family of the deceased first owner in 1970 and used it daily for 13 years until he couldn't engage reverse in it one day so pushed it in the Garage where it remained until today.

Lovely to see it in daylight after all this time, and even more satisfying to know that this time the story isn't going to end in Dulux and a roof fin.Well bought.

They're so pretty those early ones, particularly the full length rear bumpers and of course the tailfins....Great colour too.

He did well not too scrap it in 1983 when it would have been considered an old banger even then.
My parents had a Cambridge in the early 70s. Mum put it through a stone wall when a wasp flew in the window.

Like every BMC Farina I’ve ever driven.
I know it’s just nostalgia, but I really do fancy another. But probably on radials.

Had a go at replacing the clock spring today. Got as far as the steering wheel bolt (not a bolt at all) and had to bail as I am weak and even (has to be done) Bella's help didn't help at all.

Took me longer to find the various tools I needed than it took me to get the airbag off and really straightforward to boot, but there was/is no way could undo the centre fixing and hold the wheel still, dead left side does fuck with your abilities it seems.

So, I booked it in for the 20th at S and P Jaguar who are going to do it while I wait for £70 (plus the dreaded). I wasn't that committed to the attempt, to be honest, sort of 'primed to fail' as I knew I'd struggle, but at least I tried... and failed dismally!

The improvement on mine with decent radials at 30psi all round was amazing.....I do miss that car but not the welding bills.

I have got an old Passat (54 plate) in today for a new clutch and flywheel. I tried to get it scrapped but she loves the car and better chucking nearly 800 quid than buying an unknown heap. She has had it a couple of years so it was a bit of a surprise when I found a few bell housing bolts were wrong and some of the clutch securing bolts were finger tight. Even worse was the hose from coolant housing to the oil cooler. How it didn't leak I don't know, it also feeds the heater which she assured me worked ok.
