Re: What did you do today?
On Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of watching 2 spitfires, 1 hurricane and a P51 mustang pootle over the house.
Search online and you can get a 30 min flight from Headcorn or Biggin Hill for a lot less than you would expect
Still eye watering mind but a group buy for a parent……..
When will you ever get a chance again

Re: What did you do today?
Took the Ibiza in for its' MoT today at my local garage. Passed with no "official" advisories. Only one was a verbal one; "you need to get rid of that car, I'm fed up with it keeping passing!".
Do me nicely.
Do me nicely.

Re: What did you do today?
I looked into this a while ago with the 2 seater Spitfire along with looking into a local guy who takes passengers and does aerobatics over our village. I think sense has prevailed though as I used to get airsick during aerobatics 50 odd years ago and I very much doubt I've improved.nebuchenezer wrote: ↑Tue Aug 09, 2022 8:52 pmOn Saturday I had the absolute pleasure of watching 2 spitfires, 1 hurricane and a P51 mustang pootle over the house.

Re: What did you do today?
Ooohh fuck.
Wife called me last night - seems her Honda s2000 was making ominous noises and the oil light was on - strange as I’d been in it at the weekend & all seemed fine.
Bought about 8 years ago as the classic tail ender ( swopped ends & kissed the M25 Armco) I pulled it straight & she commuted 200 miles a day every summer ( Octavia vrs in winter) till she retired from proper full time work
Last Spring, on 193,000 we ( I say we….) decided on a full engine rebuild - it smoked like a beagle, was as tired as an Octagenarian, at THE s2000 specialist- TGM in Fleet, Hampshire.
It was there 7 months & I got a bill for circa 7k , but it came back rejuvenated , & marital harmony was reinstated
So I wasn’t expecting this, some 8k later. I drove over ( was at Amberley Museum, where she now spends her days) & it sounds like bottom end on rearmost cylinder. It’s forcing oil out of everywhere with compression in very strange places. Ticks over ok, but the oil light flickers & any revs sound grim.
Something serious has failed.
So I’ve got to extract the dolly ( it’s too low to A frame) & hoik it back to TGM’s this weekend for extraction, inspection & diagnoss sometime soon. I’ve feel an interesting conversation coming on , but I’m hopeful Tom will be reasonable.
I promptly returned her spare SLk 23 to the road, cos she HAS to have a yellow softop ( I know - but she’s a lot of redeeming features)
She doesn’t like it much but yellow open top options are kinda rare! Especially cheap ones!
Typically it fired 1 st time ( hadn’t moved since mot’d in April) & drove straight back. Doovla extracted £ 200 for just 6 months, fluids check, tyres kicked, ready to go. Nope, it’s the Octavia - till sense kicks in, in a few days- or she melts.
Her input? A phone call. Mine - headless chicken. Is she grateful? What do you think!

Re: What did you do today?
Went to two local car breakers but both had shut up shop and started emptying out everything. Apparently not enough people come in anymore to make it worth while.

Took some old batteries and lead gas pipes from my house to the scrappies today. Didn't (dare) take some pics inside, after all, what's funny about seeing cubed Corsas.....
