Re: Do you ever get sentimental bridging a car?
I've only actually ever personally scrapped one car, and though it was sad to see it go (genuine 3.3 Ventora) it was rusty as hell and I was moving house so something had to give.

Scrapped my ZS shortly after the first covid restrictions came into force. Non runner and needing welding for next mot.

Re: Do you ever get sentimental bridging a car?
I scrapped my Jag last year. Still had not and ran perfectly. Unfortunately whilst having an exploratory pock underneath I discovered the welding repairs the previous owner had done were seam sealant and a good coverage of rhino liner. Further prodding revealed the floor to sill area gone both sides front to back and the rear subframe mounts rotten too. It just wasn't rare enough to put the hours into fixing. It was gone the same day to a breakers yard. Loved that car but not the 12mpg!

Drivers side sill and outer rear wheel arch, both inner sills at rear sub frame mounting area, fuel pump dead, will run on easy start.
Last used March 2018, 97000 miles.

That does sound a bit terminal.
Any where to store it till the ford scene tax kicks in?

Quite a straightforward and cheap repair for anyone who can weld, not cost effective at garage rates.
I might still fix it, lots of happy memories, fetching it from Reg Vardies, my first and only new car, all my kids learnt to drive in it, family holidays etc.
I also have another one, exactly the same spec. for spares.
It looks like it will be some time before these attract Ford scene tax, I have storage until December.

The only ones worth any money in that age is the Zetec S. Likely increase as those of my age used to really want one as a first or second car. I nearly got one but the interior was a downgrade on even my Clio II, without much more performance.
