Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Oddly enough, the list of older cars that I hate(d) has got shorter by the year as more and more gopping new stuff comes out.

I've got to admit the more I look at new stuff the better older vehicles look. I wouldn't say no to the gift of a new Mustang (with the V8 not the ecoboost shit) but that's about all.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Earlier today I was behind a 'Macan', whose driver seemed eager to show off. He put his foot down and the thing blew quite a quantity of dirty looking liquid and grey smoke from one of its exhaust pipes. Is Macan death imminent?

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Given the speed* and accuracy* which the DVLA currently work at is it permissible to apply for a provisional well in advance of the 3 months before your 16th Birthday.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Here's a question for all of you HGVists here.
Watch this video below and answer me this...
That's an eight legger but what gearbox is fitted to it? I can imagine a six wheeler having a six speed box but this Leyland doesn't seem to have either a range change or splitter switch. I've driven a fair few tippers but I can't remember one having a slapover box?

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
Given it appears to be a Leyland demonstrator, probably a Cummins with Eaton twin splitter althouth I agree the cab shots don't seem to back that up....I think Rowan had his HGV back then too.

Re: Stupid questions about motorised conveyances
A rummage around the old Commercial Motors online.
The Leyland Constructors were available with a Fuller 9 or Spicer 10. Likely be a 10 being an 8 legger
https://www.aronline.co.uk/ar-cars/the- ... nstructor/
https://motor-car.net/leyland/item/2205 ... onstructor
https://www.aronline.co.uk/ar-cars/the- ... nstructor/
Conclusion: Range change switch is there and Warren needs to find his gepps and put them on (or just a case of camera angles and low resolution of video)
Let Pam show Warren where it is:
(A Roadtrain with a Spicer 10)
