Just brought to mind a feller on my old paper round.....He was a proper character, lived in an old forge and slept on an assortment of rear seats out of scrapped 50s cars. He used to fish for his tea down the beach every night and rarely, if ever, went hungry. Now and again a brother would deposit a scrap car for him to cut up and get picked up again for weighing in. He used to do a bit of fabrication for some of the businesses around the area (when he felt like it).
Outside the forge was a rough-cut piece of Conti-board, scrappily painted with the legend "God Wedling done here". It looked like a flipping ransom note....
There was another similar operation about two or three miles up the road in a much bigger barn. The notice on the door of that one read "For Welding Car Please to SEE Gram in JArd" (Translation - If you require any bodywork repairs contact Graham in the yard next door as he understands most of what I am saying....)
He had an excuse, though, he was Icelandic. And the proud owner of an insanely-tall diesel-engined Mk10 Jag (I never found out what powered it but it had a bonnet scoop the size of a small car port).

Parked down the shore of Southampton Water for lunch today, mainly because next door is having a power tool festival. Anyway, this rather nice Sprite turned up.....

It burbled off shortly afterwards but when I came back from a stroll along the shoreline Mrs Rocker told me it had returned and was parked up at the other end of the car park.
Not until it drove off did I realise it wasn't the Sprite but an identically coloured Midget of the same age. I never papped it as I hadn't realised....Also missed a nice little Austin Seven Pearl (the rolltop version of the Ruby) which Mrs R. snapped but is now lost in the ether of her iCloud.

Might as well have had.....Headlamps back then were more about having a vague idea of what you were about to run over rather than seeing it in advance. 6v too on the Sevens....

A green thing with soft brown things in it and a portable toilet......

I'm almost boring myself muttering about black and whites on stuff this late but full marks for the turboslot wheel trims and Burt Reynolds bonus points for the mag mount.
