Unless it was launched off his drive by a stunt driver I'm with the captain on this.

Electrics all work.
Tyres are new.
Windscreen cracked (seller said it might be to do with his drive not having a drop kerb)
One bubble at the top of the rear windscreen surround. One 1" square rust hole at rear end of drivers sill.
Turns over but won't fire, suspect fuse or low pressure fuel pump. It is indeed underused (this would change).

The car is bloody lovely, it has that old car smell inside. Very very tidy, don't think I'll do better XJ wise.
I like it a lot. Seller isn't willing to take a deposit until I've seen it running and driving, but that's fine, and I have first refusal on it. He's going to look into the issues and get back to me.
If it was running and driving I'd have bought it already.
Fuel injection Jags of that era with Lucas L Jetronic have a fuel pump cut out switch. On the XJS it's on the drivers A post under a black plastic clip on cover. May be the same on a Series III. Press the button down if its popped up, away ye go.

Surely that explanation suggests the whole car is bending when assaulting a bump?
This, look for any evidence of structural wob especially round the screen surround.

Er....

Seller said he was keeping the car on his drive and that he thinks it'd happened getting the car on or off at 90°ish to the kerb (so a shock to the bulkhead). Who knows...

If it's the cutoff switch I'm going to be annoyed.

It appeared very straight and solid but there was some thin film of some sort of sealant round the edges of the windscreen that looked out of place. Hmmmm.

Have you fucking counted the cylinders?
Has the count turned out to be sufficient?
If yes, why haven't you bought it yet?
If not, why haven't you walked away immediately?

Yes, yes, and because we suspect rot is hiding in the front.
