Last big trip of the season in the Boxster over the last 3 days. I'd rather have taken the MGB but Mrs SiC was insistent that we needed to take the Boxster as she wanted to top her suntan up. This is why I should have got a BGT with a Webasto!
Went to see a rusty bridge.
Some scenery
Old town
Steam powered stuff
Big houses
Big towers
Amusing signs
And ate pork pies
Car was pretty filthy at this point
Found solutions for two of the problems it has.
Rattle from rear suspension? Actually was this loose.
A single screw at the top retained it but there are clips around holding it on
This lip had broken. Don't think it's completely necessary though
Prised the grille off the housing
Reattached the grille first
Put outer cover on and screwed the retaining screw back in.
Rear end rattle now gone!
Water leak I'm 95% sure is the cap. Porsche are currently on revision 4 of the cap. The cap on mine is revision 0. Also there is water residue marks underneath it. It being the cap would explain the temperamental nature to the loss of water. I'm guessing it is only happening when it gets above boiling point and escaping gradually then. So essentially parking up when hot for the most part.
You think the easy thing would be to just replace the cap? Not so on this! The plastic reservoir is known to crack on these too. If the cap is original, chances are so is the reservoir. Change the only cap will probably create additional pressure in the tank causing it to split. Creating even more leaking.
Most appropriate solution will be to replace the tank and cap together. Doing one will just create more issues.
For now it's gone into dry, covered winter storage. Next spring it'll come out and I'll get all these bits sorted together.

Also bought this petrol can today.
It was up for 8 quid in a art+crafts retro fair type place - proper tourist trap. I felt it was worth more a fiver max but there was no bartering in this sort of establishment. A quick look on eBay showed that these often went 15quid+ though. So that and after my wife decided to buy a repro classic poster for £7.50, I justified it to myself.
Not sure what I'm going to do with it! I would like to use it as an actual can but I'm struggling to figure out how to get it open...
Could do with a bit of rust treatment and/or paint too.

^^^^ Brute force. Iirc the left hand end of the handle as in the pic is the hinge, the right hand end is a cap underneath the handle - the compression of the handle holds the cap tight down - a robust pull upwards at the right end of the handle should see it pivot about the hinge end, opening the cap.

This is the German "Allboy™" original, now in its third generation in the Junkfamily, that was so flatteringly copied by the English.
To operate them requires intelligence, not force.
Gently press down here:
This will release the latch, which you can then gently withdraw with ease:
Then you gently swing the spout over:
You can then pour petrol into cars made before catalytic converters with the added bonus that you can see whether the petrol is clean or contaminated:

That's because the Jerry's were always good at making the best cans.
Interestingly my modern Carplan fuel can is utter wank. Lid doesn't screw on straight and the spout leaks at the base.
The German one I got from a local Shell garage is much better quality. Except the spout has a safety system on it. Great except that it causes to take 15 minutes to empty a petrol can into a tank. Removing the gubbins from the spout it works fine. Where is that Patented spout designed and made? You guessed it, the UK.

Opening this can gave out a good whiff of pre 90s petrol! Rubber seal is shot though, so will need replacing as it's crumbling into the can. Still can't decide if I want to paint it or leave as is. Likewise if I'm going to use it or just admire it.
