What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Bought a fancy-schmancy rear seat cover for the incoming 'new' car from Amazon at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. It arrived at 6:00 p.m. the same day! Say what you like about Amazons attitude to various things, they can sure deliver stuff in a speedy fashion!

Loads more. Having thrashed the tits off an Austin 1100 in the past, I can confirm the strip speedo will read 87mph.

I don't doubt it but won't be trying it with this one.. Last thing I took flat out was a fucked Rover 620 about twelve years ago, it was getting weighed in the next day so I couldn't see there was anything to lose. Fucked or not it certainly went well, a smidgen over 130 on the speedo.

Not driven that many billys, certainly not ones I felt comfortable thrashing like I do the Minor.....Nice those VP ones, though, interior furnishings make all the difference, don't they.
The interior really makes it feel that bit more special. To be honest I don't really like the thing all that much but as it's my partner's car I don't have to..

However, today was my second trip out in old tin of the year. The weather was lovely so we went for a trip to town then up to Wanlockhead in the 1100. I much prefer to be the passenger than the driver in this as the gearknob digs painfully into the back of my left knee in top. Tried to get comfortable a few times but the two of them just want to be in the same place at the same time. Still, it's no hardship being chauffeured..

I'd intended to disinter the Westminster this afternoon and give it a wash but the neighbour came over with homemade date flapjacks and we got stuck into some beers so it can wait until next weekend.
More pictures of your plah please!

My 1100 felt like it was still in 2nd gear at 40mph in 4th! Iirc I worked out that 60mph is 4.5k rpm or something like that on a standard diff.
That would fit with Eddie topping one out at 87mph - that would be 6500rpm and sounds about valve bounce revs.

I had the BMW bouncing off the limiter a few years ago. There's a nice long hill on the M6. It was about 7am, with fuck all else on the road in my defense.
I was quite impressed, as even though its been chipped, bmw say the max speed is 144mph. Not bad for a 2l diesel!

My old Merc 260e showed 140mph on the clock once, 500rpm over the read line in top. I always thought it felt a bit low geared
