Re: What did you do today?
Aye, it always puzzled me why it didn't act like you said, on reflection it has been dragging its arse due to too-soft springs. Excited to take it out again now.
It'll probably have slightly better power delivery if the weight's balanced - not to mention it has new spark plugs, HT leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm.
Old Man had been trying to tell me the existing cap and arm (replaced from U-Pull-It for about £5) were fine, but the arm and poles on the cap had a millimetre less material on them than the new ones... idle is a lot smoother, and I bet power delivery is up. Just doing the plugs, leads, and wastegate diaphragm caused a marked improvement to both power delivery, and the unmistakeable five cylinder warble.

My 240 Glt estate was sometimes a bit tail happy, usually when I'd forgotten to let the air assisted rear suspension back down after carrying something heavy. One memorable occasion saw the back end slide when going through the twisty bits. When I finally regained control I looked at the speedometer and found I was still doing nearly 60mph, I doubt that I would be able to catch it now. That one is still my favourite Volvo.

Brand new Grand Vitaras used to drift well on wet roundabouts but as they came with so little fuel in them it would slosh to one side, cut the power and bring them back in line.
OMG U OK HUN?

240 GLTs always handled well. They were built for Swedish school mums to drive sideways on icy gravel taking the kids to school.

If the old springs were decent I'd take them off your hands, assuming they were Nivomat type.
Re: What did you do today?
Service time.
£59 delivered for the service kit, which seems not too bad. I changed the track rod ends and aux belt too. I started off using the Pela pump but it was taking forever, possibly because I didn't warm it up enough, so I drained it the old fashioned way.
I think the fuel filter was just about due for a change.
