I did bid on this and was the highest bidder.

So I retracted my bid.

Also I like the look of wire wheels but not sure I could live with them. It's a car I'd want to chuck around a lot and wire wheels aren't supposed to be great for that.

Wire wheels are a pain in the arse to clean, the splines like to wear so you get a nice clock every time you power on/off. And they will seize onto the spline.
They look nice, but just look at them on someone else's car.

Yeah that was off-putting. However everyone wants wire wheels and the proper shorter axles are the preferred way to convert.

Hence I could have picked up a plentiful steel wheel axle and then convert to steel wheels, while selling a conversion kit to offset the cost of changing.

But the fact it's had 16 owners and a crap DIY paint job made loose interest in that one.

BL tat usually had worse paint from the factory...

Maybe from Speke!

I remember reading that Abingdon had a stronger work ethic (compared to the rest at least) and did a bit better screwing them together.
