Re: WReX Wagon
I buy cars blind all over the place but no where near the sort of money a 911 is worth. My sellers seem to be happy with bank transfer and once it is in their account they can't get it back so should be fine. It is more risk for the buyer than seller unless you take the cheque without giving it a good 7 days to clear. If in doubt speak to your bank and they should advise the best way.

Re: WReX Wagon
Thanks both.
I’ve seen another early Porsche that I really quite like, so I’m trying to swap one for the other. I could probably have made money on the 911, but I'm just happy to have owned it and turn it over to someone else for what I have in it.
I’m selling it for $35k, so the guy is getting a good deal. I just don’t want to be giving it away!
He went to the bank today and got a cashiers check. Took a photo at the bank of the teller and sent me a copy of the check via text. Amazingly it’s cashable like that! So I’m into the bank first thing tomorrow and will be looking at any means to speed the funds transfer… wish me luck!

Re: WReX Wagon
So I was sent a copy (photo) of the check today and went to the bank to discuss. Apparently it can take between 4 and 10 weeks for it to fully clear. Called the buyer and I’m going to send the check back once it arrives.
I also did a couple of minor things to and a round the car. There is a small switch on the headlight dim dip switch that very occasionally sticks, so fixed that. Took the battery out at the same time and put it on charge.
Dug through all of my parts and found some new old stock Hella fog light lenses (the ones on the car are more than serviceable, but not like these shiny new ones) and also dug out some gas strut bonnet stays I was going to fix to my 75 (but have sold it).
Think I’m going to put a ducktail I have in the back seat area of the car as a nice surprise too.
Damn, me, but when I went to put the battery back in this morning, it looks like in taking the steering wheel and column to pieces, Ive buggered up the horn - so every time I went to fit the ground on the battery, the horn blared. I guess that is tomorrow’s car job. Unfortunately the washing machine broke down this week too, so I guess I’m going to be fixing that first though.
Saturday’s list of optimism:
Take kid to guitar lesson
Fix the washing machine - or at least work out what’s wrong and find parts
Fit tap in basement
Work out how I managed to muck up the horn
Need to fit picking the wife up from the airport in all that (2hr drive) as well as doing something - anything fun for myself!
In other news, the 7 is off the boat and in the dock waiting for customs and I’m in talks with the owner of this 912… Looks to be a straight swap $$$ wise with the yellow 911.

Re: WReX Wagon
A great design feature made to help them self combust easily. Who knew when they developed the orginal they would have the foresight to find an ingenius way to kill them off with fire ! Shame they didn't use Renault wiring looms as they all fall to pieces after 15 yearsLynehamHerc wrote: ↑Sat Nov 20, 2021 9:15 am Some versions of the VW T2, that Panhard adores, have horns wired like that.

Re: WReX Wagon
For a start how about Zafira fires?
Ford Pinto.

The fires in Hyundai and Kia vehicles are a well-documented problem.

Re: WReX Wagon
I’m already paranoid (see 50% of my posts). Last thing I need to be thinking about is the damn horn circuit setting the bugger alight and taking my garage, lift and everything else with it!
Next up, clearing the fallout from Dave’s frantic doings in the basement and then tap fitting.
So far, boy taken to guitar lessons. Nothing on the net will fix the washing machine. Looks like it needs either a new valve, pressure switch or control board. Luckily I found the receipt and it’s still in warranty!!! Just… So I’ve put it all back together and put a message in to the repair line. Next up, clearing the fallout from Dave’s frantic doings in the basement and then tap fitting.

Re: WReX Wagon
Well, the magic happened…
Water from metal! Even Paul Daniels (yes the other famous Paul) would be surprised by this!
Edit: not just a tap mounted on its side… damn picture editor.
Looks reasonably in place as well.
Managed to get one of the three hanging lights up before I finally threw the towel in. Need to pick the Mrs up from the airport.
Did have an hour tidy up too:
Dropped the damn shopvac down the stairs just as I was finishing a quick first pass vacuum up. Bloody filter came off and shot dust everywhere that I had just cleaned. Hoping to get Mrs brownie points when she gets home.
Feels like I should be finished, but still so much to do. Think I’m going to take tomorrow off and maybe look at the horn situation.
