Yes I confused everybody (I had a head full of Suffolk town names when I got home!).....We left from Kessingland, went past Southwold but actually had lunch in Sudbury,....!

The journey was some 250 miles - it should have been 214 by more direct routes - but we rarely left 30/40 MPH speed limit zones. Literally, hardly saw any other cars until we unavoidably had to skirt Luton, Aylesbury and Newbury. Motoring as it used to be - fantastic day out instead of a frantic drive home.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......

I had to put a clutch in this heap. For some reason the guy's wife (who can't drive) loves it to bits and insisted it was repaired.

I think he got his moneys worth out of that clutch. How the hell it has an mot I don't know as it leaves puddles of oil and diesel everywhere

It leaks a lot more than that, is that actually in the manual the 70mm thing as I have had some fail for just a single drip. The diesel leak was from the throttle spindle on the pump. The whole car is a heap of crap but they love it for some reason

Today I applied to be an apprentice bike mechanic. A good friend of mine that used to work in my dad's employ in aerospace engineering shared the vacancy on Facebook, which piqued my interest. With some help from him (his current job is reviewing CVs) I put together a CV and covering letter, and sent them off.

The shop got back to me and said my CV looks good, and have passed it on to the training college administrating the apprenticeship (which includes an NVQ in engineering).

Now, said friend of mine is well known in Manchester as he was a volunteer mechanic for a long time, and also close to the centre of social cycling circles, everyone knows him and he knows everyone.
He asked a friend of his that owns a one man bike shop if I could put in some free labour in exchange for a reference, and this was agreed to. I'm off to discuss it with him at his shop on Thursday, and on my way back I'm dropping into the bike shop where the apprenticeship is, to further introduce myself. I'll be taking my most recent project bike with me as a demonstration of where I'm up to skills-wise:

Good luck with the job.

(You seem to have forgotten to fit the mud guards.)

Yes it is. A single drip is definitely not a RFR - unless it's onto the exhaust manifold.
It's funny as the mot guy I use always jokes that if it drops enough to fail it's actually down well to last long enough to get to the station!
