Thanks Paul, I knew that I could rely on you at least with your intimate knowledge of idiocy.

A sudden cut is ignition. Could be a coil wiring problem - I'd try running temporary new wires. It's worth looking at the ignition switch as dirty contacts can cause such a problem.

Re: 1966 Volvo 121
Daft question, is it the right way around? Slowing and acceleration can slosh the fuel about and cause issues. I've seen it when carbs have been turned sideways when used from FWD on RWD or the other way around.

Re: 1966 Volvo 121
I think the rev might be on to something there as the linkage looks pretty sound and the carb is very basic so wouldn't of had a damper. The fact it did it with the old carb maybe rules it out. Do you have lots of keys on the ring with the ignition switch. I have know a heavy bunch of keys to effect the switch. I think we are all clutching at straws a little as you have done all the obvious things, so maybe time to look for the really weird.

Three tiny keys on a single ring; very little force exerted on the switch itself.panhard65 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 26, 2021 8:32 pm I think the rev might be on to something there as the linkage looks pretty sound and the carb is very basic so wouldn't of had a damper.
