Re: How not to get a MGB back on the road
I only got them to replace the sills as I'd rattle-canned it and didn't want them to show up my crap painting so they sent it back with the bits they'd done in primer. That knocked the best part of a grand off the bill. I hate to think how much it'd cost to have a full respray, which would then show up the interior etc.etc..

Sprayers think they are Gods?
Too right! The guy up the road has got a new job (actually his old job back) after his 12-month ban and is incensed that he has to actually do some prep work! He thinks he's at that stage in his career where he should turn up, blast a bit of paint around and then piss off home!
I suggested gently that he may be being a bit of a twat (though more gently than that - sensitive soul and I may want some paintwork done at some point!) and that the level of work required was hardly excessive.
You'd have thought I'd slapped him!
Utter pricks, the lot of them though I got slated pretty well on AS for suggesting this.

Re: How not to get a MGB back on the road
I've only known two people who ran bodyshops, one was a crazy old fart without a clue & he work looked like that was the case. The other did some great work & run a collection of tuned Yanks, such as an old Dodge pickup that'd do the standing quarter quicker than his Viper. He solved that by buying a Viper GTS.

Not quite as many now a days since they took all the good solvents out of the paint.

MGB Update
Well, I believe that I said on here a couple of weeks or so ago that the new hoodframe didn't fit. Cue a visit to the garage on Friday, after a phone call from them, for them to show me that the one they bought from the MGOC doesn't either. It's better but not good enough. I've left it to them to sort it out, they ordered it and can explain what the problem is despite them implying that I should do it.
The carbs are now full of crap due to someone, nobody knows who, removing the inline fuel filter that I replaced before it went to them. That's another job for them to sort out and at their cost. The Speedo also has stopped working apparently. The O/D doesn't work and hasn't for as long time, just before I took it off the road, so they're having a look at that as well. I'm sure that there's more but it's close to being MOTd now.
I've a 2nd hand hood my missus is going to fit when I get it back.
It was 60 quid off eBay compared to several times that for a new one and, given it stopped being my daily decades ago, it should be adequate (I hope!).

Re: MGB Update
That all sounds bloody annoying. Hope they sort everything out.

Re: MGB Update
I do but wasn't certain whether to add this or not as the last post is over a year ago. I sort of got diverted from it by the LWB MGB post a few weeks ago.
On reflection it'd make sense to combine this with that thread.
Hooli, can you do this please?

Glad to see you recognise my superiority at last, monkey boy.
