This of the sds jag diagnostics era? Think it is so if we can manage similar timings I can plug it in to dealer level diagnostics and have a more accurate guess? I leave the uk on the 17/02 for a while.
Just when I thought I was out they dragged me back in.

Does a Delphi DS150e knock off read the codes?

Not a clue to the above questions.

I'm going to speak to the garage monday about my theory the rattle & new electrical fault is connected as it's in the ECU area & see what is said. They can slap some seam sealer on that welding at the same time.

I've not put up much about this lately so to update stuff, it's alive & drivable again. The rear bumper mount has been welded so it finally looks about right if you ignore the paint work & arches.

The specialist couldn't prove the cause of it dropping into 'Engine Failsafe Mode' after a couple of miles but suggested the TPS errors needed a new throttle body, which makes sense as one of the TPS (it's got two) only comes with the TB. New TBs have recently been reduced by Jag from £1,761+Vat to just* £800ish+Vat, so I got a second hand one from a breakers on ebay for £83.

Usefully Jag list the TBs separate for supercharged & none supercharged cars but then give the same part number for both, so that's the number I ordered. Obviously what they really mean is the TBs do differ, the idle control circuit is different. Fortunately you can strip the valve off the NA TB & fit the blanking plate off the SC TB. The only other difference is one bracket for the intake trunking.

It's now running & driving without throwing a TPS fault, which is quite handy as it means it doesn't decide to turn the throttle pedal off every 10ft (which is how bad it got on occasion). It's still going into failsafe mode though, so time to google & hit Jag forums as it seems to not be recording any codes for it.

Now for the bit you all like, pics.

That whole idle valve bit comes off with three bolts & as it's all sealed with a rubber gasket the blanking plate swapped over without hassle. The whole job was surprisingly easy really.

Very short update.

No forums appear to have any idea of the fault, their so called technical knowledge sections mostly consist of 'this specialist in your area is best'.
