Bargen BMW Z3 brought

Post by The Reverend Bluejeans »

Collected this from Cofart, en route home as we speak. 2.0 six cyl bad boy with 150 bhp at the spare wheel. MOT June £425. Don’t run very well tho.

I think the Z3 is quite underrated. My mother had the 2.8 litre version and it a lovely car. It was quite old school in feel and not a 'racing car' which may be why they were looked down on a bit in their day, but I never understood that.

Fucking upside down iPhone pic FFS.

It's back home. The sill ends are rusty, ABS/ASC lights glowing, electric windows slow and clanky and the rubber intake boot is shot to fuck. And, being a BMW, the handbrake is as much use as a kick up the arse with a pointy shoe.

Fix the faults, or pull it to bits and sell it to other Z3 pilots in component form?

Behold the beigeness. Isn't it awful?

Clearly the sensible internet advice is to sell the bits to fund buying an MX5.

Because there is no better 2 door roadster than the MX5. According to the internet.

My eye was turned by a cheapo z3 on Facebook at the weekend. £500 with that red leather brothel interior.
Future classic innit.

Obviously the sensible/profitable answer is to break and sell to the afflicted, but I would definitely drive it for a bit first.

We promise not to tell anyone if you do.

Z3 cleansed and inspected.

Front shox fucked. Replaced with low mileage part worns.

Intake boot replaced with part worn. It now idles and runs.

Sill rust (they're bolt on covers) is minor. Dark green paint and a brush.

ABS lights go out when you drive it up the road.

So not totally fucked then.

Simple recommissioning jobs and then who knows. I've zero interest in it as a car other than a money generating exercise.
