Interior now all back in. It is far from finished but looks a lot better. Most of it will have to come out again to sort the heater and the dash board anyway. The exhaust blow is actually from the manifold to head join which is annoying as I have had to order new gaskets. I also ordered new engine mounts as I think the engine is a bit low on the r/h side making the front pipe just rub on the chassis. I will also clean and paint the rocker covers just to tidy things up a bit under the bonnet. Hopefully it will find a new home before I start getting attached to it and decide to keep it.

It is nice and I am sure it would soon grow on me but it is just too big for my garage. Clumsy bugger that I am I have grazed the sides twice already getting it in and out. At the moment thats not really a problem with the rough paint but it would piss me off no end if I had the paintwork done.

You clearly need a bigger garage.

I gave it another run out last night which started well but then it got a bit of a misfire. I was going to put new lifters and cam cover gaskets in as well as the exhaust manifold gaskets. Looks like I need to order some more bits.

I should learn not to just pull things apart to see what they are like as it starts to get expensive. Anyway I pulled the heads off as they both had broken bolts in the manifolds so needed to come off to get the broken studs out. This then showed a lot of crud in the oil ways so as the sump was dented I decided to drop that as well. I am glad I did as even though it has had 2 oil changes since I got it running there is a very thick sludge in the bottom. So new sump ordered and whilst I was looking on rock auto an oil pump was only 35 quid so a new pump went on order. I then decided to just have a look at the big ends and mains. Not too bad really and the crank is fine but now I have ordered new shells for the crank. Another 130 quid from rockauto.

The 'turd is coming along just stuck waiting for the sump now. Everything is painted the wrong colour but what the hell it looks better than it did and it was all paint that was lying around. I need to rub the rocker covers down again to get rid of the brush marks then laquer them and they should look a lot better.
