Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
I would love those wheels, sadly there is so much rust to sort on mine it might be a decade before I needed them..

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
You see, my TD5 would at the point of firing the engine, self-level. How does the RR self levelling strut work?
I've had a fork lift truck load a pallet of bricks into mine this week. From the bump-stops to level in a minute. Drive well too.

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
Range Rover classic self levelling strut is a monster. will not attempt to self level until the car starts to drive.
attempts to take the Boge unit apart have put the hapless mechanic into a low but steady orbit.
The RRC strut is effective, simple but slightly flawed
this is mine working very hard but surviving
There are folk who have investigated an air pump strut system to replace it but but but

This was 2015 when I was working in London most weeks. The early V8 4 door parked behind me is of interest as its undoubtedly the longest serving vehicle dragging film cars all over the country. Often heavy old 30's Rollers.

This seems the appropriate thread for this.
It's 70 years to the day since the LR first appeared at the Amsterdam motorshow.

Re: Land Rover Rustorashun
Yes, not mine I hasten to add. This little bastard (J type) is worth over 30 grand. Nice to drive but has the bonkers OHC set up where the dynamo sits vertically and drives the camshaft. I always drove my own motors to a job- a trailer in central London is a pain in the arse especially this tilt bed type with the wheels sticking out. We once got stuck in a width restriction and after lots of fucking about managed to get it through by running the nearside wheels up on top of the Armco squeeze barrier. The other traffic was delighted having to wait.
