Wary of thin steel badly welded repairs I cut through the repair on the main nearside chassis rail just behind the seat box. The original rail had been wrapped right around with 1mm steel. The rail is 2" deep with sand and rusted remains of the original chassis. It is proper fucked!

Just to demonstrate how clean the mechanical are on this Range Rover, these are the brake pipe clips on the rear axle. the rust is surface and can be rubbed off with a finger. 2/3 of these screws undid! Never ever ever had that

Rear axle strip down in progress, the diff will stay in place until all the surface is clean and prepped and then I will pull it and set tolerance. The nearside / long driveshaft was a bastard to remove, the splines at the diff end are showing signs that it was very very abused

Oddly my RRC also had an excellent chassis when I last looked, far better than a series of the same vintage and it has had a far from easy life.

I bet the original rangie that was Bob tailed was a lovely well maintained thing
