Thankfully whatever carb is fitted on this one actually works, my riva saloon had the electric solenoid controlled carb and was complete dogshit.

I made the mistake of prodding the inner sill next to the jacking point which just started to crumble, before I knew it, I was having to weld big patches on the floor and inner and outer sills.

I took the Lada a tour of Perthshire, there seemed to be a small amount of vibration/wobble on the motorway on the way there so I took a slower more scenic route from Kinross up through Creiff, along past Kenmore and up to the dam at Ben Lawers.

It was only on the return journey that I noticed something was really not right.

Anything above 60mph it violently wobbled which made the whole car vibrate, Initially I thought my wheels were falling off so stopped to check the wheel nuts which were all tight. I set off again and the vibrations continued followed by a rattling noise coming from the rear wheel, I could see bits flying off in my mirror and the rattling noise would stop but it would continue to wobble.

A little bit closer to home I left the motorway and had to stop at a junction, when I pulled away, the rear end swung out quite quickly and I thought; I've got a flat tyre!

So what do you reckon caused that?

Over inflation, I noticed one of the fronts had started to bulge the other day so changed both front tyres but never bothered to check the rears.
It did have a set of new Yokohamas fitted when I had it in 2017, when I bought it back the other week it had 3 yokos and a random old rusty spare fitted and the black steel in the boot had a newly fitted tyre on it.
When I noticed the bulge I fitted a new tyre on the front and swapped the rusty spare for the black steel from the boot leaving a pair of Yokohamas on the rear.

Yup, that'd cause a vibration. I've had a bike tyre fail like that & it wobbled about a bit*

On Sunday I gave the car a wash and searched the classifieds for a pair of tyres, choice was limited but I managed to find a pair the correct profile for £20.
I went along to pick them up and discovered that they were ancient, one of them was fitted to volvo 340 steel wheel...
I didn't really have much choice so fitted them anyway, the vibration has gone but they are lethal in the wet... Image

It's not exactly Hubnut is it??

Old cars, good soundtrack, no bollocks being spouted and not a beard being stroked anywhere in sight.

Nope nothing like Hubnut...
