Anyway, a small amount of progress has been made on the Chevette (for those not following the videos).
I got all of the welding and painting done on the front end and got the wings and front panel fitted.

I have new headlights and bumpers still to fit but there's not much point in doing so until it's painted. I haven't decided whether to keep it blue or respray it another colour like black. A darker colour might hide the shonky welding...
It still has a bit of welding to finish then needs a new engine, gearbox and steering rack and it will be a lot closer to an mot.

Ah, I'd mind anyone giving it death then. The F20 can't handle the torque of the V6 on a permanent basis. I was driving a Mk2 Astra conversion and 3rd dropped into the bottom of the box. It'd already chewed its way through an F16 and another F20 before that

That sounds like the perfect reason to sell it before it breaks!

The F28 6 speed was the one to go for. Tootling along in 6th, see an overtaking opportunity, straight into 3rd and plant it, used to take off like a scalded cat. Those V6's make a glorious noise at full chat with a decent exhaust and all the cats removed.

Luckily the inner arch wasn't too rusty and only needed a small repair on the lip. Various off cuts from other panels were used to make the shape of the outer lip including a volvo 340 wheel arch and some sections of the old inner arch which was completely replaced on the other side.

I recently bought a little ride on lawnmower for £50, it did run when I got it but the starter motor soon died and the tyres went flat. I bought a new starter motor, fitted it then bought a pair of tyres and spent around half an h trying to remove hour ham-fistedly trying to remove the old tyres and fit the new ones. They are too small to fit onto my tyre machine so had to use a crow bar and a tyre lever and whatever I had lying around...




After that, I changed the track control arm on the 305, it was a relatively painless job, everything went back together OK.

Spotted this for sale this morning so went along and bought it. It drove fine apart from a very annoying oil pressure warning buzzer sounding randomly for different lengths of time.

I didn't have any oil on me so just gave it a quick check on the way home and seen there was definitely oil in there, it wasn't until I was back and on level ground I checked and it was way above the maximum level on the dipstick.

First thing I did when I got home was changed the oil, then fitted a matching set of wheels then fitted a stereo. The oil warning buzzer hasn't been on since.
