I ended up doing that on the Cowley...One filter at the tank exit and one at the carb entry, both replaced yearly. I hate fuel blockages.

Winning bid 5 grand for that Silver gimp box- when the new owner turns the key for the first time a boxing glove on a spring'll burst out of the steering wheel and smack the new owner round the chops.

I had to abandon a trip in the van yesterday as I could hear the rumble of a knackered wheel bearing. Though I dislike having to disturb the tapered hub, now that I'm used to it you can get in there in a couple of minutes, no need to remove the wheel.
I discovered that though Vauxhall had only one basic model in the early '50's the 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder and van versions each have a different bearing size and I could only find one usable one, quite a bit bigger than that from the 'six'.
The old one pressed off easily. Half an hour later it's nearly back together. Just need to get 'an assistant' to pump the pedal to bleed the brake then I'm back on the road.

This afternoon I got half a mile down the road and the van conked out. (That's what they used to call breaking down)
Looked underneath and saw the pipe from the tank outlet to the filter dangling down, it had just fell off.
I'd left a full tank on the ground at home and been running on just the contents of the pipe and other filter.
I walked home, got more fuel and went back to fetch the van. When I pushed the filter tail into the pipe it was like a cock in a shirt sleeve, the rubber was swollen right up and I had to use a small cable tie to get it to hold on.
Will change the pipe tomorrow and investigate further.

I have yet to have one of the Land Rovers be sick in my slippers.

I have had a Mk1 Mini piss hot oil and rusty steaming brown water all over my winkle-picker boots, though. Simultaneously.

...and I had the boss's borrowed SD1 piss anti-freeze laden coolant all over my brown suede shoes.
That'll teach me to to fill it up when the low coolant light came on.

So it appears these vehicles are making a fashion statement...

Plastic filters binned and now done properly with one £6 Mann, van back in use.
The fuel hose was marked Goodyear but was shit. The filters have tails that are two diameters, but in my opinion each section is not long enough. They're soft and go out of shape, won't use again.
I messaged the seller saying that I'd fitted one to my van and that he pipe had come off allowing all the fuel to drain out. The reply:

Serves me right then, should have bought a proper van filter in the first place.
