Ask a Wobber

Post by 8BAK465 »

Ill kick this off with my question then if anybody else needs to ask anything we then have such a place

My Mustang is going to my tame mechanic tonight to have the driveshaft removed over the weekend to investigate the Vibration issue.

I have bought new Universal Joints but just realised I never bought the rear drive shaft U bolts

Question is do I have to fire off another Stateside order or will the ones that come off still be useable?

Is it a case of you only replace if they break or do they stretch?

I dont think they will be rusty or seized (saying that now they probably will be!) being a West Coast car everything has come off easy (up to now :? )

If they dont make it is it going to be something model specific they I have t get from the states or are they universal and something I can get from over here?

They look like this

Cant find anything like them in UK all seem to be Merica........................

Thoughts guys?

You can reuse the old ones and they are standard size.

Where on earth do they go? Only things I've seen like that before hold axles to leaf springs.

On another note we now know why Ford slushboxes always took up gear like your being rear ended! Where is the Flex Rubber Doughnut Coupling like others do?

If yours are fucked, which I doubt they are, you should be able to get them in the UK, for example from US Automotive.

I dont bother with UK unless I have to

I use Rock Auto in Madison for most my bits

The Threashold is £135 before you pay C&E duty but theres still 20% UK Tax to pay plus your Shipping

I tend to max out an order and fill it with bulbs, fuses, belts, filter etc etc

But they do you Head gaskets ;)
