Yes - you sense the mass if you will, but it's no more unwieldy than a D2 - the ride on air is miles better then my very good D2 on proper L-R springs. I'll take a little dashcam clip and upload it - the difference is quite pronounced.

Obviously all in my opinion.

I need to try my D2 on 16-inch rims, it's got a considerably harsher ride than my old D1 had.
On the road:
1998 Disco 4.0 V8 (manual)
1994 Vauxhall Calibra 3.0 V6

Running but need fettling:

1986 Honda CBX750F
1991 Maserati 222 SE
1990 Yamaha XJ900F

Tax & MOT-exempt, woohoo!

My D2 is on 18" rimz and the ride is very harsh compared to my earlier one on 16" steelies.

Agreed - I 've had both on a d2 - the last on Goodyears and it was still harsh. The 16's are far mor forgiving if a little less precise - which is a bit like saying an brick is more aerodynamic than a lunchbox.

Hilariously the same debate goes on for D3s. All the young lads (that's everyone when you're my age) want the 20" wheels, the D4 lights etc etc. Mine has to be one of the few left on it's original* 18" wheels and original lights etc.

I think some models were on 17s but that was the smallest for D3s.

Hoping for roffle win :)

4x4s look stupid on low profile tyres.

Almost everything looks stupid on rubber band type tyres in my humble opinion.

As with most things, most of the world disagrees - although I notice Formula 1 and similar single seat racers don't use stupidly low profiles.

I agree, excessively low profiles look stupid on everything. Normal cars with 50/60 profile look ok to me, but 4x4s should always have full height tyres.

Same with the Shoguns; they all want 20" rims, which the factory offered on higher spec models. Mines on 18"s and harsh enough.
