Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Well I missed a call at lunchtime by tens minutes because phone was on silent, but it was the garage to say the motor was ready, so no need to go all internet hard man.

Minor glitch with the card machine, so agreed to call them back a wee bit later when they had turned the thing off and on again. Bill £507, mostly labour.

MOT is up tomorrow (Thu), so still to do that before I can use it.

Started the day by manually putting the hood down on the 306. Mate had told me it stopped working and it wasn't doing zip. Checked on Mon that the oil was there, which it is and at the correct level. Had it up and down manually too and not a peep out of it on the button. Sod it, just do it by hand and so started the day with it down. Went to Screwfix for a cheap multimeter (fag socket blowing fuses) and round to the motor factors for a box of fuses.

After coming out from the factors find the hood deck cover had popped up. Honda Jr 1 had been fannying around pushing the switch. Okay, give it a try. Only goes and fucking works!! Nice one son!

As it's still dry, the hood stays down. It's the LAW. Put it up to go into Tesco for lunchtime and whilst in the shop it pisses down. Come out after it stops. Go to the park, then hood down and off down the road for a burn. Kids start bellyaching about the wind/cold. Tough. I'm not stopping yet.

Enjoy the afternoon and sort out teatime.

After tea, decide to have a wee look at this socket to see what the score is while it is still light and change the clock bulbs. Socket shorting. Okay, let's take it out. Pull the lower cover and unscrew the clock. Yep both bulbs blown, but expecting that, I've already been to Halfords and got 3x 286 bulbs. Change then and try to figure out how the cig lighter socket comes out the dash. Lots of fucking about later and having removed the radio, get the plate out, by which time it is dark.

Having dropped various bits between seats, etc., I get finished about an hour and a half ago.

Does the clock light up?

(Only difference is the two new bolts required to replace the seized ones)

Magnificent Rustbucket described the noise fairly well about a leprechaun in the boot with a hammer. Leprechaun now killed.

The Jaaag failing its Mot spectacularly would have been much more hilarious.

Indeed it would, but then cars that spectacularly fail their test don't get presented for test on my watch - I don't need spoon-fed a list of things I need to do to pass. ;)
