Eddie Honda's wheels of steel (and occasionally alloy)

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Bloody phone, I typed 019.

If/when I can get the boot open to confirm it, that sounds the cheapest way then thanks.

TOMMY'S JAAAG UPDATE... continued again

After starting the car ok, we let it idle for fucking ages, must have been about 20 minutes before the fans bothered their arses kicking in. Temp gauge sat bang-on it's normal place too. Hopefully that is the end of that and there isn't any OMGHGF to deal with.

My thinking of chain of events being, alternator seized, belt melted and snapped, water temp rises and rusty hole blows out of pipe.

Anyway, sat in the driver's seat and it's "what does that light mean?" The low coolant level was lit. Discovered to be the level wotsit having dropped out of the underside of the expansion tank a bit. Pushed that up and it went back in and the light out.

The I found the driver's mirror was fucked too. It had no resistance moving it from the folded in position but was not floppy. Upon taking it apart the big star washer that holds the big spring down on the pivot post had come off. Not only that, but the top of the pivot post too, so there was no way of reattaching it. Time for another mirror assembly. Grrr.

After taping that up and replacing the offside stop/tail lamp bulb we were good for a test run on the private test run circuit. This threw up the ABS light. Gah, more bollocks to do, so called it a night.

Checked Stena around midnight Sat/Sun for a ferry back and found that the 11am/3pm/7pm "sold out". This left me a a choice of no sleep and a 3.30am departure to catch the 7am boat or the 11pm which would get me massive earache from Mrs H. I did check P&O and they had spaces on every sailing on Sunday, but I'll be fucked if I'm giving those scumbags any of my coin. They can FRO and some more and I'd rather be late or ride down to Holyhead.

Upon arriving at Cairnryan at 5.42am, I was going to screen shot this unusual state of affairs with the "sold out" shite when the page automatically refreshed. Doing the same search yet again and it now showed only the 3pm full. FUCKING BASTARDS, I could of had me kip, done stuff and got the 7pm back. Pure raging, so I was.

Jaaag was last tested 15 miles ago. I presume it's just got rusty rings and a clean up will extinguish the warning lamp. Either that or it's 555 timer time.

X300 isn't it? I seem to recall they are like the XJ40 in that the leads to the sensors like to snap internally, especially the front ones.

It is, but it was working 15 miles ago and it's been sat for ages before occuring.

Do you not have the Jaaag EPC?
Nope.

But even checking on Jag classic parts gives two options. Neither of which is a real number so no help. I'm pretty sure it's the later one, but it doesn't cross reference as far as I can find.

If you learnt to read it, it only gives one for you, the second option matches your VIN.

Yours has a 019. The earlier VINs had a 096 which is 3" shorter.

I can read it, I can't remember my VIN though.

How'd you match that to 019?

I wish I'd kept that jag, I struggled with the lack of room for my left foot but the interior was gorgeous.

Your VIN is F09727,

Batter the Jaaag number into something like Autodoc and it'll list some batteries. Check dimensions (or know your battery sizes) and that gives an 019.

175w x 190h X 353l is a 019 (or 018 with the terminals reversed)

175w X 190h X 278l is a 096 (have one in my dizzler Volvo and Synergie)

175 X 175 X 353 is a 017.

175 X 175 X 237 is a 027 (306 cab)

175 X 175 X 207 is 063 (v300 std although the tray will take a 027)
175 X 190 X 207 is 012 (106, although I slung a 063 in before as same footprint)

The Jizz has a JIS casing and posts and is a 054 (055 with terminals reversed)
