Had they kept the reliant wiring? If so there would have been earth wires everywhere as well as live feeds.

It was an utter mess of bodged up bits of wiring. A typical feed for anything would start thick & brown, go thin blue, then green, then red & arrive at the other end thick purple...
Agreed on the earthing due to the fibreglass. I've run earths for a lot of it such as the rear lights (now mounted on wood) all back to a common earth in the electrics box.

A massive thanks to our guv'nor the great hooli for spending nigh on 20 hours with me rebuilding the trikes wiring from scratch. After much head scratching as to what the hell the wiring was doing beforehand,why the temp gauge started acting like a volt meter and why it's charging but no charge light we just said fuck it,it works!
The wiring was epic proportions of fucked up with scotch locks,hardly crimped connectors,joins hidden under cover so tracing was a nightmare. There was household wiring,thin gauge where there should be larger gauge and so on. The temp gauge now works,innoperative fuel gauge replaced with a rev counter too. Since the strip down though I've managed to lose a seat belt buckle,the rear seat clamp and bolts for the back rest. Oh joy. Tomorrow I'll go digging for the lost parts and reconnect the swivel on the brake light.
Dodgerover,the wiring harnes was a homebuilt job by a previous owner. To give an idea of the situation the trike has 4 headlights. They have h4 55/60 bulbs in so 220 dipped,240 main. They were wired in so the dipped and main stayed on simultaneously giving 460 watts through motorbike switch gear with no relay causing me much smoke and melty wiring. Hooli rectified that last year by fitting relays inline. In this full rewire though the ignition barrel has been relocated and brand new bike switchgear has been fitted so lights,horn, indicators etc are all together and it now has a flasher main beam also along with the bike kill switch rigged to run the electric cooling fan.

Welded chassis up,replaced luggage box due to wood rot. I've a land rover 110 branch seat for the rear to go on too.

Roland's little brother is enjoying the sun too there. Do they only grow the front wheel once mature?

Panic averted for now. Mayo is from a split o ring on rocker bolt and temp gauge is a corroded wire on the sender. I thought something amiss when I turned ignition on after 2 hours and it was still showing 75 degrees
