If I got another, I think I'd get a really early one without the quarter lights and no external handles. Or a Frogeye.
BL era ones don't interest me quite as much to be honest. At least with the MG BGT the later BL ones are pretty much the same as the earlier ones.

Something like this that was on my watchlist and something I should have bought instead of the one I have:

Not really Ebay, from another Forum

"Free" car in Reading, has MOT and problems to keep you busy - No picture yet .
Of any interest ?

2003 Mitsubishi Carisma -

Owners description :-

MOT runs out next week
Reading
Requires rear bushes to pass next MOT but local garage unable to source

Other issues including cracked windscreen, radio not working, broken button to open front passenger window, rear anti-roll bar links required, handbrake symbol comes on when turning right corner (linked to either bushes or anti-roll bar link) and high bitting point on the clutch pedal but wasn’t ready to be changed yet according to local garage.

The car has still been within the family for 13+ years, serviced each year and has been a great reliable car to drive. Bodywork has minimal rust and is good for its age, It wouldn’t have been replaced yet, if the local garage had been able to source the parts. The fact the parts are hard to come by is why I thought I would open a discussion on here as there may be salvageable parts that could be of use to someone. Scape value here is £320 but would be happier if it goes to someone who can use it rather than it just sitting in a scrapeyard.

Happy to add a photo if you are interested, bit late now tonight as already dark. Let me know.

If I had the money, I would be buying a ticket back to the UK tonight and traveling out tomorrow.

After my 912 (which ideally would be an early 911 or even better and less realistically a 356), a low light Karmann Ghia (or any pre 1970 Ghia, but low light is the best) is my other dream car. I was a member of the Karmann Ghia owners club when I was 16 - just so I could get the monthly club news letter with photos of members cars, info about meetings and parts. That’s a good 35 years ago or more!

There’s something about the way that cars are looked after in the UK compared to the US. This was originally a US car, but has been looked after so well since. All it seems to need is a set of decent solid steels and hubcaps to be rolling perfection. Anyway, I’ll stop now as I’m sure no-one else is the least interested in my witterings.

I like them but prefer the convertibles.

Must stop looking at W126 S-Class... Two cars with less than 50,000 miles:-
Tax and MOT free 500SEL. https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202207147766070

Or for an extra £5850, less engine, less legroom, hubcaps and taxable. But leather, so a bargain.

Lovely cars from the pre brutalism era.

The V8 would be my choice, go big or go home.
