Could you not get a heritage certificate from Gaydon? A printout of the eBay transaction and a receipt of the vendor should do as proof of ownership?

I was pulling your legs a bit ;) .... But actually thinking about it, it is a possible project if everything major is there... (Thank god I don't have storage)

There is a complete heritage Mini shell in the Moss Bristol branch on the store floor I keep looking at. Pretty decently put together thing and not too shocking a price.

Re-shelling a Mini is a good idea - until you discover that every single piece of the thing it is to restore is absolutely fucked/doesn't fit.
There's a great long bar in Rock & Roll heaven.......
