Unfortunately dad is vetting my choices after the Concerto disaster and I can't have this as it has a 'bad' MOT history, then says he prefers a V70 D5 with twice the miles, no interior pictures and an as bad MOT history. He also said no to a 160k motorway miles Passat PD130 Highline estate that did 10k a year and clean passed it's MOTs regularly because he just doesn't like PDs for some reason. And that was £1k ffs.

This could be fun*.
Well matey, and I refer you to my own K series misery, it just goes to show that your average head gasket is not tempered by its owners political leanings. I hope that you'll keep us posted on your next purchase, good luck.

Anything got at by the Barries is going to be trouble, as is most Rover shit, regardless how that is looked after. You both only have yourselves to blame.

You could have had my 2006 Civic for £1200, cracking wee thing - but it's sold pending collection.

I do know of an absolutely stunning 318Ti Compact Automatic, 1995. £1750 will buy it. Low miles, one or two owners, bright red. Same guy with the silver green 525tds manual.

£500 cars are normally rubbish and you have to play the game and ride your luck.

Oh no, please don't make this thread into THAT again...!

If I might make a suggestion, Max: ask your dad for assistance in buying your car. It sounds like he's got the final word anyway.

Ghosty, no disrespect but why does your dad have a veto? You're an adult.

I suspect it's because his dad pays for (most of) the repairs, could be wrong though.

Ghosty. Have you asked why he's against PD engine stuff? If looked after and left standard they pretty much keep just running and running don't they? My mates just done 70K in 3 years in a Y reg golf, not a problem and it's got a mild chip on it so is frugal and pulls well in every gear if you need it too.

He is apparently bank rolling the replacement car as Ghosty is out of money after the Honda blowing up.
