Apparently that wire between solenoid and the motor can't be repaired.

Is it?:

...by lazy bollocks fitters.
...in less time than getting an entire assembly from the motor factors.
...without a soldering iron.
...without a minuscule bit of effort.
...all of the above.

Even if I was feeling bone idle, I'd just bung a Valeo TS12ER20 brush holder assembly on...

Yep. I was pissed off to say the least. These guys have rebuilt two starter motors for me before so they could have easily fixed this. Instead I'm £183 lighter in the pocket

What do you do when every vehicle you own needs work and you're too busy building a house to do anything?

Buy another project obviously.

The previous owner had started rebuilding this 88" before sadly passing away three years ago. It sits on a new chassis and has been painted. The engine has signs of new blue hylomar here and there suggesting it has been apart, but I know nothing about its past.

The main things needing done are brake and clutch pipes, the master cylinders look like they haven't been used in decades. There is no wiring loom. Well there is a new loom in a box from autosparks.

Unusually, there is a volt meter and a trip counter.

I made a start trying to work out what goes where.

Still a few odds and sods to figure out.

There are lots of wiring diagrams in manuals and online to refer to. A combination of the diagrams for a series 2A with alternator conversion and a series 3 diesel seem to match this loom the best.

I'm making it up at the fuse box. No diagrams have three browns into one purple.


The observant might notice the bulkhead gutter is missing.

Looks stressful. I can barely remember where all the parts go for things I have dismantled myself, never mind someone else's project!
