My son is very much into transport so we drove to Wolverhampton and took a tram to Birmingham. We went on a double decker while we were there and watched them assembling a load of Xmas stuff using German registered cranes.

Glad to be out of the place but little one loved it.

Took the A55 for a service this afternoon, my first proper run in it. A very perky thing to drive and the column change is a hoot- very pleased with the car.

Brake binding was investigated on my Hyundai santa claus.

Was hoping it was just the pins, but no, the pistons were seized in the caliper. Fortunately I had ordered a piston and seal kit.

They weren't keen to come out

Bought a sensible daily to replace the T5.

Runs well, reasonably tidy, and does everything I need it to. Has working climate control too!

1.6 petrol auto on 62k.

You'll bored of it in 5 ... 4 ... 3 ... 2 ... 1 ...

What's the economy like? The auto same box in my Laguna with its 1.8 struggles a bit. Two hours on a-roads at 30-60mph I have eeked out 32mpg on the computer.

Oh and it's laughably slow!

I really like it actually, economy is decent, got 30ish on the way back up the M1, but it's due a service and the exhuast is blowing so there's room for improvement. I wouldn't call this slow, it's got 100bhp and is more than competent, handling is half decent too.

I've been putting off welding the sill on that transit all week, the owner dropped it off on Monday night and I only managed to muster up the enthusiasm to get on with it today. Actually I had planned to subcontract the work out to a friend because I really couldn't be bothered  but he was late turning up and I ended up doing most of the bits on the outer sill, there were some bits on the inner sill I let him have a go at...

I had initially planned on doing the bare minimum couple of patches and quoted an estimated £100 for the work but ended up having to replace a large section of inner sill and buy an outer sill repair panel for £40.

What do you reckon I can get away with charging for it?

Also the van was full of rubbish and reeked of dog so thinking I might charge a little extra for the inconvenience of having to work inside it.

I finished the job by under-sealing the inner sill underneath and painting the outer part in silver.

I'm not sure I'd say that 79bhp/tonne is too spritely. That is 10bhp/tonne less than, say, an MG Midget. Incidentally the MG Midget 88bhp/tonne matches the 89bhp/tonne of the Laguna.

Incidentally all have four gears! I'm sure very different ratios which will make it feel different off the line.

I have to say that I quite like the sedate nature of the Laguna. It has slowed me down a lot when you know you have tough job of performing an overtake and so you just don't bother. Not least the tyres are shocking at the moment on it. Had a proper brown trouser moment going over what I thought was a puddle as it got all a bit squiggly.

New tyres going on front of it tomorrow thankfully. Wish I did the back too now.
