What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Google suggests #bof is Business of Fashion, which I imagine is not quite what you mean?!
'bof' in the French sense, so I'm saying 'meh'
Ah right! So less French car content wanted?
No, just mildly humourous indifference to Renna shonky computers. Post (or not) away!

Changed the pulley on my mower for top speed and now it really flies! I have loads to be getting on with but spent most of the night fucking about with this instead.

Less annoying tag line.

Got the paintless dent guy out to have a butchers at the car door, reckons he can do it but it needs holes drilling on the inside of the door for access. is going to come out on Friday morning to do it.

If he turns up. I'm always dubious about people doing what they say they'll do (especially round this way, flakey bunch of bastards) so I shall live in hope... she's a nice girl pleasant place to live :)

I've given up on getting anyone else to do anything to my cars. I have a chap service my VW van who is conscientious but modern VWs are all he does.
I've ranted about auto trades before, now I just do it myself, hence the 9000 will go to the bridge if I can't fix it and the other two are so simple I can tackle all the jobs on them.

I started ranting about this subject a couple of years ago (maybe longer?) over on AS and got shot down by lots of people who reckoned I was a twat (correct) and the trades are all, to a man, perfect.

I don't know if it's just down here but they are fekkin' dreadful, I am STILL waiting to have my new brakes fitted and the bloke has had them sat on his desk for a month now!

In my experience around here some are good and some are bad.
Unfortunately the good ones are in great demand The Sniffles has exacerbated this as they can deal with fewer customers and also now are trying to deal with a MOT surge.
Maybe I'm just a soft touch though, as a multi year VW T2 restoration and a couple of years to get MGB sills done probably proves....

I have a good place that looks after my T25 and I had it booked in for MOT just before lockdown. He called me up and asked me to defer it to help him out and said I would get a 6 month extension. Sure enough the MOT date magically changed to October.....It should have been serviced at Easter, too, but I finally got that done about three weeks ago. He told me the reason he couldn't do it in April was that he and his other mechanic both went down with The Cough and it floored the pair of 'em. He used the last of his strength to rebook everybody the day he rang me......

Speaking of feeling weak, the guy who thought that he had had it in January and literally had no strength at all when suffering from it phoned me today. He had a fit out of the blue on Sunday, never had one before, he collapsed on the floor with a racing heart and laid there twitching. Recovered after about half an hour and been given sugar water. Scared the crap out of him and his kids.

Oil and filter change in the Maverick done tonight in readiness for the holiday. No drama and I didn't end up covered in oil for a change.
