What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Went to see this today:
Imagehttps://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified ... 3158453624

Been after a Clio 172/182 for ages but now their prices are starting to rise, realised I need to jump on one now before a hot Clio II is worth silly money.

However I'm really struggling to find one not stripped out track day "special", heavily modified or fucked. Reassures me that I'm definitely needing to bite now.

This one should have been a good one given the price they were asking, however the "we can do a deal bruv" and "cambelt is with the car and will be done if you buy it" (despite it saying it been done) was off-putting enough against the dealer. To be honest I usually wouldn't have bothered seeing it but they really are in short supply now and this was local.

It was the rusty bonnet at the front was the final straw. Did say he could have it resprayed but tbh I would never trust a dealer to do that properly, who is trying to make a buck out of a car. I said it was way overpriced and he kept trying to do a deal, not understanding that even with a heavy discount I wasn't interested.

I'm in no rush, except this boat appears to be sailing quite quickly away now.

Fired the welder up for some exhaust fixage.

The PO had cut the old flexi out and tried attaching a new piece with brackets. The diameter was wrong though so he had cut about 10 slits to open up the end. The result was 10 holes in the exhaust.
It's from the young lad's new* punto.
I'm still using the upside down fire extinguisher for CO2.

It can put out 40 litres/minute if required

Not the best but looked like it might keep the fumes on the inside.

I've made the mistake of assuming a welded exhaust is good and fitting it, only to have to take it off again when a running engine shows it isn't good.

Vacuum on blow instead of sook and a rag in the other end.

Scoosh of soapy water reveals some pin holes. Which were blobbed over with more hot metal.

Followed by a meal out for the first time in months.

(Eddie, how do I embed youtube again?)
First link needs "watch?v=" added.
Second link needs "www." added before youtu, the "." between youtu and be taken out and ".com/watch?v=" added
Third link needs "&feature=youtu.be" removing from the end.

e.g. it needs to look like this format, and this format only:

Code: Select all

Links tidied up in the original post for ya. It doesn't spoil the flow of the story then.

Cheers all. I tried various versions of the link but didn't really have a clue. I sometimes hit on the correct format by luck.
