What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Or have you broke it, broke it?
Broke it broke it, the cable should be located in the shiney brassy ring you can see. That's the actual adjuster, so now the cable won't turn it. I think it could be stuck back in with something, but not sure what.

Just looks like the threaded end of the adjust cable passes through a spring and threads into the brass wotsit and pokes out the far side. If you've broke it, is there a bit of end of the cable missing or anything left in the brass wotsit?

It looks like that, but there is no thread or owt in the brass bit for it to lock in to. I think there is a little bit of cable in the bottom of the brass bit, as if it was fixed & has snapped off right at the end.

I'm considering araldite, maybe after cross drilling the brass bit (it's not brass but you know the bit I mean) so it's got more purchase. I'd need to degrease the cable properly too.

I'd just replace it with a bolt, but I'm really not sure I'd be able to get my fingers in to adjust it due to bits around it.

How about just doing the job properly? Fish out the remains that are in the brass wotsit.

Take that and the other piece to a cable manufacturer like https://www.hindlecontrols.com/

It might not be a pricey as you think.

I use a place http://www.cablecraft.ie/, as they are 14 miles away from me. Got a clutch cable inner for the RT done for 10 yoyos and got them to do release cables on the reclining sofa for a fiver a pop, while-you-wait. Also had a heater push/pull wire made up for my old Citroen's heater flaps, again from the pieces I had broken in my hand.

As I believe in equality, I'm calling you a CHUMP too!

There's a lot of things still made in the UK even if it's out of furrin materials.

I've made cables myself, but places like these make a better job of it. If you're lucky enough to have one nearish, support them.
