I wonder where that Imp/Corvair styling ACTUALLY emanated from; I guess it was the Chevy first- c1960?mercrocker wrote: ↑Mon May 23, 2022 11:05 pmI didn't spot that! I do now - next to the Aero Minor...

Yeah. The Corvair roof treatment was basically a development of the flat-top 59/60 full size Chevy applied to a smaller body and probably was developed alongside those cars. NSU were also guilty of extending the artistic licence on their Prinz 4 (with the waistline treatment) and the Zap has long been accused of copying that although in reality there aren't too many ways you can draw a fresh 1960s rear-engined air-cooled clean 2 door design without them all looking a bit similar. A bit like the Datsun Fairlady/MGB thing I suppose.
The Zaparozhets was still a bulbous little extended Fiat 600-looking thing until around 1963/4......

Side panel and hinge plate cut out, then new pieces lined up and mostly welded in. Was a bit of faff getting things right. Door works alright though.

Re: What did you do today?
Pulled the BGT out of storage earlier. Took it shopping.
Going to venture into Bristol tomorrow and go to the local Moss Motors open day. Hopefully it's not going to misbehave itself in the city! It's not been back for a while and I'd rather it not have a fright.
Probably should wash it but I don't know if I'll get time to.

I'll still put the odd milestone in brief on here. More detailed updates on the usual (better) place, where there is (unexpectedly) now less enforcement on what you can do with your own content than on here..

But on this...
On AS I can delete all my threads in a matter of seconds if I wish to disappear off. Like some now on here have done on AS.
On here, nope. It's not as easy due to those limits above. Even then, by trying, Hooli swoops in to stop it - as shown by nebuchenezer attempting to.
Thin vail of freedom that actually is more restrictive and only just on his terms.
Anyway my main posts are all on freely visible parts of AS for those that are interested.
