What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

Was the post actually there? I don't mean that sarcastically, just did it actually "take" and embed on the thread page? I have had a few issues with response times lately where it looks like something has gone on and it didn't. Who, other than Hooli, can delete another's post?

I've had that occasionally, I think because the net is so busy with everyone under house arrest for plague. A couple of times I've had it warn me that someone else has posted, then displayed the post I'm posting....

Anyway to answer the other question, Warren & DaveQ. But if we delete posts it shows in our thread view & there is nothing here like that.

Boredom is taking hold, I've started to do unnecessary things since the suspension of proper work. Yesterday I decided to put interior lights in the van. It's useful to have one at the back for loading stuff into it and one in the front same as normal cars have, but Bedford must have thought such things would spoil the driver and didn't fit anything at the factory.
My indulgence is one light in the centre but with two way switching. I could use those clever door switches to achieve the same thing, but I don't have any and, I'm trying to just use what I've got kicking around.
The interior light is from a P4, the LEDs are warm white so as not to be offensive.

It's a bit of a feeble project, but in these difficult times...

Fuck it, the little jobs like that are the ones that accrue and maketh the shite roll onwards, or something like that.
Now, I'm hoping one of you lunatics might be able to shed some light on why this horn ain't working. I haven't had one like this apart before, only the type with a vibrating diaphragm and air horns.

Put a new set of plugs in the A4, only to discover the 15 year old rubber cam cover gasket is so fucked, there was oil in all four plug wells with number 3 completely submerged. New gasket set ordered but despite cleaning out as much oil as I could, some oil went down into the cylinders when the plugs were removed. The smoke on start up was quite spectacular and took 5 minutes at 3000 rpm to clear.

I always worry about the cats if that happens, so I tend to leave the plugs out & spin it over with a rag over the engine. It seems to squirt most the oil back out.

A compressed air line, if you have one available, is best (although exceptionally messy) for getting rid of oil in the plug wells.

Otherwise I've had reasonable results with a long screwdriver wrapped in paper towel.
