Re: What did you do today?
Because it is getting to that critical stage where the bodywork and structure are needing attention now, and I don't have the time nor inclination to do it. I've had it 8 years in all-year-round use. It is a 4 door saloon and I do not need another car with 4 doors and a boot. I still like the car but I'm wondering if familiarity has bred a bit of contempt. More importantly, there is a duty of care in running an old vehicle to preserve and maintain our heritage and I'm not doing very well at that just now. So I want it to go to a new home ideally where someone will sympathetically repair it and cherish it.

Re: What did you do today?
I tried to take my 14 for a ride, it's decided to idle about 4k rpm & when I turned the idle adjuster the cable bit snapped, ffs. I've taken the throttle bodies out again to get it & see what can be done to find damage on the injector loom. I've no sodding idea how that has happened as only I touch it & I'm always careful of the wiring when getting the throttle bodies in or out.
I can fix the loom easy enough with a soldering iron, I doubt the cable adjuster is available as a separate part so I'll have to see what I can do there. As for the stupid idle, no idea. I'm hoping the damaged loom was affecting something, otherwise it's fucked somewhere I haven't noticed.
The cable is meant to go into the brassy coloured bit above it.
Fucking jap crap, it's getting on my tits again so I might ignore it for weeks till I can be bothered.

Re: What did you do today?
Thanks, I hadn't bothered to look yet.
I think someone with skills could stick the cable back in the adjuster with a blob of weld & it'd be a lot easier than trying to split the throttle bodies to get to the screw that holds the adjuster on.

Have you just been a daft bastard and only wound it too far out?
Or have you broke it, broke it?

Broke it broke it, the cable should be located in the shiney brassy ring you can see. That's the actual adjuster, so now the cable won't turn it. I think it could be stuck back in with something, but not sure what.Eddie Honda wrote: ↑Sat Jan 23, 2021 4:53 pm Have you just been a daft bastard and only wound it too far out?

Re: What did you do today?
Just sorted the window, easy half-hour job. Will post full details and piccies in my Voitures topic but what had happened is one of the side runners/guides had moved forward allowing the glass to move forward and drop. It told me what the fault was because the little set screw fell out when I removed the door card.
