What did you do today?

Talk about your cars etc here. Keep it sort of sensible and on topic please.

I collected a hire van this morning as off down to my mum's for a few days to empty my dad's garage out of all the decent tools etc.

'71 plate Transhit, drives better than the previous model BUT the stop/start fuckwittery is pissing me off already. It takes twice as long to park as it should because every time you drop the clutch it cuts out, then you have to wait for it to restart before you can move again. I'll fiddle in the menus & see if it's easy to fix, if not I'm only driving there & back so I'll survive but is a fucking stupid idea.

It does have aircon & cruise control though, so that'll make life easier in non-stop stop start traffic...

If you have the air con on it might cancel the stop start as it needs the engine running for the compressor. They may well of changed this though as they always have to "improve" things

Unfortunately not, already disproved that on the 4mile home with it.

It really is shit & annoying. To reverse park it means - stop, engine cuts out, select reverse, wait for engine to start, reverse, engine cuts out, select first, wait for engine to start & straighten up. If I can turn it off I will.

It stops as soon as you declutch and go to neutral, so between 1st and reverse, or the other way. Does it when moving too, so declutch as you stop and it's cut out while you're moving even without coming out of gear.

They are indeed the ones I saw.....The wagon was parked up at the time and I didn't see the hearse.

In the States when a loco goes off to be scrapped it gets hitched to a normal consist and the train becomes known as a "funeral train".

Exactly what that procession looks like, there is a certain sadness about it.

Yeap these were the ones that were sold off recently for next to no money. I believe they were owned by a funeral director who kept all his older vehicles and when he passed away the company sold off the collection to a dealer. A few were saved and all were in very saveable condition. All were runners so I have heard, such a shame they have ended up like this.
